iDictate Jobs – Better Paying Transcriber Jobs

iDictate, founded in 1999 is a California based transcriptions company that provide a number of difference administrative services in this field to a whole host of industries including: 

• Law Firms. 
• Insurance Companies. 
• Medical Companies.
• Law Enforcement.
• Education.

They provide the service at a rate that is said to be cheaper than hiring in-house staff and are available 365 days of the years with high accuracy rates and fast turn-around times. 

Some of their services and apps that they have include:

1. Evernote: For the dictation of voicemail and audio notes. 
2. TweetCall: For the dictation of tweets.
3. CallTroops: For the dictation of telephone letters to military personnel.
4. Voice On The Go: For the dictation of short texts. 

iDictate hire quality competent general transcriptionists that are both inexperienced and uncertified.

This means that you have a genuine opportunity to both try out the job and find out if you like it or not as a career and as a means to gaining experience once you are certified - using them as a stepping stone to much greater and better jobs. 

Their services are offered in Both the English And Spanish languages.

iDictate as explained in the explainer video above functions as a business using the agency business model. 

Their clients, often small to medium sized corporations in all industry sectors contact them with the work that they need transcribing, their audio or video file that needs to be converted into written text. 

They, iDictate then make the files and work available to their list of transcribers who then get to work and complete the required task within the set deadline. 

Once the work is approved and accepted by their clients, you will receive payment for the work that you have done. 

It is a very straight forward and common business. 

What Is The Work Like?

The work at iDictate is what you would expect as a general transcriptionist. It can be a bit repetitive - listen, type, rewind, pause, listen again, type...

One plus point is the work type can be wide and varied, covering a whole range of topics, which does somewhat help to alleviate the monotony and "GroundHog Day" effect.  

I advise intentionally taking on varied tasks and topics as to help you avoid this. One plus point is you can end up picking up a lot of info and knowledge about a certain topic or subject if you continually take transcription work of that nature. 

Another plus point is the more familiar you get with a topic, not only does your own knowledge grow, your own ability to get work of that nature done quicker and thus increasing your earning potential. 

When you are working with iDictate or QuickTate your status is that of an independent contractor. 

Effectively speaking they are your client. You are free to work the hours, times and days that suits you. 

This is very common in the world on remote transcription work. You can easily get the work done when your kids are at school or fast asleep. 

Earnings with iDictate are paid on a per word basis and not the more common per audio minute.

iDictate pay half a cent per word transcribed, which is US$5.00 per 1,000 words. As a competent transcriber you should be able to earn in the US$15 per hour ball park figure, varying on both your typing speed and the quality of the audio file. 

QuickTate, pays half as much. Something you may need to "suck up" until you get that invitation to take on work from iDictate. 

You will be paid every Monday for work that you have completed the previous week. 

If the Monday falls on a national holiday in the US, you will be paid on the Tuesday. 

Payment is paid to your Paypal Account. 

Oh yeah baby!!

There is plenty of international love going on here!. There is no geographic limitation in place, the only hindrance is if Paypal is not available in your country. Other than that, yes, this is a worldwide work from home opportunity. 

On Glassdoor or Indeed.com there is no private listing for iDictate, I did find one interesting review that stated working with QuickTate was nice, while working at iDictate not so nice..

Make of that what you may!.

There are some good qualities and positive things that I do like about iDictate: 

• Their sister organisation is perfectly rated by the Better Business Bureau At An A+
• They give a fair opportunity to inexperienced transcribers to gain experience. 
• Worldwide work from home opportunity. 
• Weekly payout with no minimum earnings limitation. 
• Paid straight to your Paypal account. 

There are some things that I did not like about iDictate, which were: 

• They don't have their own listing or rating by the BBB merely "borrow" the status of their sister company.
• Not much said about them on glassdoor or indeed.com
• Said to be picky about errors and happy to do so as to not pay you!

Yes,

You can make money with iDictate, it appears that you can make twice as much as you would with their sister company, QuickTate. 

This is a regular job, you do the work and you will get paid!.

I have not uncovered any solid information pertaining to illicit, illegal behaviour such as deception or fraud that that would cause me to be concerned about iDictate. 

I can confidently say that iDictate are not a scam and therefore completely legit. 

I'm not one for completely discrediting genuine work from home job opportunities or legitimate ways of making money. 

iDictate is a company that is not for you if you are already a competent, experienced and qualified transcriptionist as by this point you will not be looking to pick up odd jobs here and there. 

If you are inexperienced and just getting started as a beginner transcriptionists then by all means try your hand at QuickTate and iDictate, gain the experience that you need and be ready to leverage that experience as you use them as a stepping stone to the better paying companies that have a steadier and more regular work flow.
