It is reported that they generate an annual revenue of US$5 Million.

I have not been able to uncover any lawsuit filed against Scribie or RaJive Podar by any regulatory authority, private citizen, current or ex-employee, corporation or freelancer.
You should check out the legal background of any work from home job or opportunity - the last thing you want to be doing is working for some shady or shoddy organisation that may either get shut down amidst an expensive lawsuit or may not end up paying you.
How Does Scribie Work?
Scribie hires work from home transcribers and transcriptionists, proofreaders and transcription reviewers.
Their clients audio files are in segments of 6 minute long, as a transcriptionist your job is to listen to and then transcribe the audio into a text file accurately.
Reviewers will then check your work which is then followed by a second pass by the proofreader.
If you are an experienced transcriber you can start off as a reviewer. When your work is of quality and the company trusts you, you can progress to being a self reviewer and check your own work before it gets handed to a proofreader.
What Is The Work Like?
There is nothing outrageously difficult when it comes working as a transcriber, or progressing and becoming a reviewer or Proofreader.

As you progress in the world or transcription the job gets easier and the pay better!.
That is a very good reason to get qualified, bag all the best jobs as most transcribers online these days are unqualified!.
The type of transcriptions involved with Scribie are general transcriptions, which pay less than legal and medical transcription rates, which do require certification.
There is no obligation to what work you must do, just log in and select which audio files appeal to you and go for it.
You are obliged to complete the task that you select in 2 hours, so make sure you have that time available and cleared to do so.
Don't, go all willy-nilly and be casual about it, as the last thing you want is your account banned or a poor rating and potentially get your work opportunities limited.
If you are inexperienced, online transcription agencies like this can provide you with the necessary experience that you need before branching out as a full on transcriptionist and freelancer on sites like Fiverr and Upwork.
All jobs are on a first come first served basis. The only difficulty may be certain files being poorly recorded and low quality, or a speaker with a heavy foreign accent, a lot of background noise.
Credit where it is due, this information is stated on in the files description before you accept the task.
With that said it is very common for such files to pay you more due to the extra time they take to process.
What Are The Application Requirements?
This is a job and career path that requires a good understanding of the English Language, grammar and punctuation.

I wouldn't say you need to be the next Martha Stewart or a great Grammarian. We live in the world and age of technology where there are various spell checker and Grammar checking programs that will help you out.
To apply you need to have some basic equipment to get the job done:

- A headset for transcribers.
- Transcriptionist's foot pedal.
- Transcription Software.
The last two are not obliged I have put them in there as they will help you to get the job done quicker and above all to a higher standard which means more work and greater potential for progression.
You also need a verified Paypal account as that is how you will be getting paid.
*My advice is a belts and braces approach, hard wire your laptop to your router and have your smartphone tethered to your laptop as a backup.
This is what a lot of Online English Teachers do when giving a live class via skype.
The last thing you want is your internet cutting out due poor wifi signal or power cut while your 2 hr time limit is ticking away!.
What Is The Application Process Like?
The application process is very straight forward. All you have to do is apply online, confirm your details like your email address and you are then placed on the waiting list and given a waiting number.
You will be sent an invitation to take a transcription test to your email address. To take the transcription test you must create an account with Scribie.
The test will involve you transcribing an actual transcription audio file to listen to and transcribe.
Once you have finished your transcription, submit the file and await the result.
When your test file has been successfully reviewed, you will be paid for transcribing that test file and, well, congratulations are in order as you will have a job with them and able to select more files.
If you fail, you have up to 10 attempts to retake the test and pass!. That is pretty awesome, I have seen some transcription agencies limiting this to just 2 attempts!
Are There Any Set Working Hours?
While some work at home jobs do require set working hours, such as customer service, Teaching English Online and certain Virtual Assistant Jobs, transcription jobs online do not require you to have a set working schedule.
You can work as often or as little as you like, which days suit you and take breaks when ever you please. The only obligation you have is to complete a file within 2 hours of selecting it.
Other than that you are completely flexible to work the hours you please - even in your pyjamas!.

How Much Can You Make On Scribie?
This is completely variable and difficult to give you and exact number as it is dependent on your skill level and your ability as a transcriber.
As you gain experience and proficiency, you will get better and better, and much quicker.
As a you progress through the ranks from Transcriber to reviewer, to self reviewer to proofreader your pay will increase also. Pay can vary from US$5 to US$20 per hour of audio file.
That is "per audio hour" not how long it takes you to process the file. Each file is 6 minutes long and ranges from US$0.50 to US$2.00.
How Does Scribie Pay You?
You will be paid by PayPal, due to the very international function of the job and the company you will need to have a verified paypal account, which is VERY easy to do and can be done fairly quickly.
There is no minimum withdraw limit imposed and you can request payment daily if you want to. All payment are processed within 1 business day.
Getting your money from Paypal to your bank account can take up to 5 business days.
Is This A WorldWide Work From Home Opportunity?

Plenty of international love going on here. Scribie have approximately 25,000 freelance transcribers worldwide working from them from all a whole list of countries.

Is Scribie Accredited By The BBB?
As part of your background checks for any work at home opportunity you should check out how the company is perceived by the Better Business Bureau as it helps you to see and judge just how legitimate and legally they conduct business.
From which you can form a basis of trust with the company in question.
Unfortunately, after searching for both the business name Scribie and the website address Scribie.com on the BBB database I found there to be no listing.
By default their rating is Unaccredited and Not Rated.
Common Complaints
Currently Scribie has a Rating of 2.0 on Glassdoor with some complaints being related to a low rate of pay and some low quality files with difficult to understand accents.
While money is relative to location (US$5 to US$20) in places like Viet Nam where I am based, goes a LOT further than in America and the UK for example.
Still,
the rate of pay offered is low for someone that is a certified transcriber with experience, it is still good for someone that is inexperienced and curious about getting started as a transcriber and wishing to test the waters in a new career.
It is still a big plus as they hire worldwide and that permits you to travel and earn money at the same time.
How Long Does It Take To Transcribe 1 Minute of Audio?
Professional fully qualified and experienced transcribers using powerful transcription software, headset and foot pedal can transcribe 1 minute of audio in 3 to 5 minutes, varying depending on the quality of the audio file provided, making one hour of audio 3 to 5 hours work.

How Fast Do I Need To Type To Be A Transcriptionist?
With Scribie there is no requirement for you to be able to type at any given speed or rate, only that you get the 6 minute file completed in the 2 hour time frame permitted.
Most experienced Transcriptionists type at a rate of 50 words per minute, with the most experienced professionals being able to type at 65 to 80 words per minute.
If you do end up starting a career as a transcriber, there are obvious benefits in learning how to touch type as Mo'work = Mo'money!.

Absolutely!.

You can make money with Scribie, this is regular get paid to work at home transcriber job kind of gig.
You work, you get paid, it is that simple!.
They also have an affiliate program from which you can promote and earn an income from.
I have not been able to ascertain an average monthly income or an average number of audio files competed on a monthly basis, thus I cannot say nor calculate how much you can make with Scribie.

A scam is by the linguistic and legal definition as an act of deception or fraud that leads you to suffering a financial loss.
I have not been able to uncover or determine without a shadow of doubt any acts or deception or fraud by Scribie, therefor I can state that in my opinion Scribie is not a scam.
Unlike other sites, I am not afraid to call out a scam when I see one, just as long as they are provable to be a scam, under a legal definition and context.

This is where market economics comes in to play Supply and demand.
While there are a glut of jobs available and a whole world full of people that can do the work which pushes down the rate of pay (more workers to jobs ratio).
You can either cry and complain about that, or GOYA! (Get Off Your....I'll leave that last word to you!).
The glut and deluge of transcribers available is of low quality inexperienced and unqualified transcribers.
Now if and when you get qualified, the Supply Vs Demand, is bang in your favour as there are far less, considerably less, certified transcribers working online than the number of jobs available, literally meaning you can name your salary!.
If I told you, you could earn US$60*+ per hour online as a professionally qualified and certified transcriber, would think that taking just 2 or 3 months of your life to get certified would be worth it?
*For general transcriptionists, I've seen Certified Legal and Medical asking for US$75/hr freelancing online.

Scribie is an obvious and excellent way to get started in the world of transcription and transcribing if you are inexperienced and new to it.
Getting to dip your toe's in the waters and finding out if it is a job you would enjoy is a pretty smart thing and gives you that "nothing to lose" opinion.
