What Is Empowr? Is Empowr A Scam Or Legit [Review]

But, first things first, I reach out and fully congratulate you for being very intelligent and internet savvy by doing your research. This is how you stay safe online, avoid scams and find the very best way of making money online. 

Let's now get started and find out all about Empowr!.

Empowr is a next generation social network with it's own market place, cryptocurrency, political and educational system fully integrated to the platform. 

The term, and I'll use the term lightly "founders" are a union of highly experienced Silicon Valley technologists and elite U.S Professors. 

The end result of which is a democratic social economy which belongs to it users and controlled by the users that are aptly named empowr citizens.

In essence it is a social network and just like Facebook and the countless others.

When you join you are what they call a "Empowr Citizen". Unlike Facebook Empowr has market place where you can buy and sell your products and services. 

If you help Empowr to grow you can become a success coach. A Success coach helps other Empowr Citizens with the sale of their products and services, investing or just helping them to understand the use of Empowr. 

On Empowr you can also be paid for all your social activity and on site interactions such as posting, liking and sharing content. 

Empowr is not to be mistaken with the well known internet marketing scam Empower Network.

However it is important to know a little history behind the company and the site. 

Empowr was previously known as Project Uplift the later rebranded Fanbox.com and later rebranded to Empowr, Prior to Fanbox, they were a site known as SMS.ac, founded in 2001 by Brandi Williams. 

(it appears they change their name more often than Za Za Gabor!)

Empowr has an estimated 50M users and generates $6M annually.

Joining Empowr is incredibly easy.  All you need to do is:

1. Fill in the required information and then click submit. 
2. To activate your account you need to link your Paypal account to Empowr. 
3. Empowr will withdraw $1 form your Paypal account, which they will later return. This is for verification purposes.

Empowr is free to join and there is no obligation to connect your Paypal, however if you don't, you are not eligible to earn. 

When you sign up and join Empowr you become a fully fledged Empowr Citizen and have 4 main ways in which you can make money with Empowr

1. Content Roles

You can earn money with Empowr by performing tasks that you are already very familiar with and have done many times on other social sites, namely Share music, post photos, write articles, make friends and so on!.

Basically doing as you normally would on other social sites except doing them on Empowr. 

2. Marketing Roles

I'm sure that you are familiar with Facebook and Facebook Ads. Businesses run ads on Facebook and Facebook earns advertising revenue from that.

Empowr do things a little bit different, a little "upside down" they pay you to post and share adverts with other users on Empowr.

3. Educator Roles

I slightly touched on this earlier, Empowr pay you to help other to use their site. All Empowr Citizens are entitled to have a Success coach. 

As a coach you can answer questions and give advice. You can make money on Empowr by educating others. 

4. Developer Roles

If you have some tech skills or a coder you can work with Empowr helping them to develop the site. 

5.Buying And Selling On Empowr

Empowr has a marketplace that allows users to buy and sell products or services. Buying and selling products side of the site functions in a fashion that is similar to eBay.

The buying and selling of services area functions similar to Fiverr. 

It does appear that Empowr has quite a few different ways for you to earn with them but there is no real indication of how much you can get paid. 

Empowr is aimed for people that spend a lot of their time on social media sites and looking to profit from their social activities rather than wasting their time. 

It is at its very core a social media network that pays you for doing what other similar social networks either don't or won't pay you for. 

The algorithm on Empowr calculates the monetary value of your activity on thier network and pays you for it - if you can wait 90 days for it to mature!.

I am the kind of person that gives some kudos and a certain amount of trust to businesses that are respected by professional organisations and associations in their industry.

I am also that way inclined when it comes to consumer protection groups, organisations and associations.

Empowr, rather concerning is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau and holds a shocking F rating.

Note: When you search for Empowr on the Better Business Bureau website it automatically redirects to their former name, Fanbox. 

The most common and quite concerning complaint regarding Empowr is related to account billing and the extraction of money from users Paypal accounts without prior knowledge or permission. 

There are also complaints in regards to non-payment of monies due, which is of equal concern. 

Cashing out on Empowr is pretty easy to do. Just click your balance which is displayed at the top of every page, a new window will then appear showing you a full breakdown of your earnings and how much is available for cashing out and what you have available for use for other activities on the website. 

If you do have cash available for cashing out just click on "Send My Cash Out Key" and then click it. 

You will then get your "cash out key" sent directly to your phone (must be iPhone or Android) and you must have the Empowr app installed.

When you get the push notification on your smartphone click it and follow the instructions that you see on your phone.  

There are not a lot of good things that I can say about Empowr other than their ethos and philosophy, which is incredibly difficult for the company to carry out and make possible. 

They do have a great vision and maybe one day they can achieve it. I for one, seriously hope that they do. 

Empowr, is what you would call part of the share economy, trying to achieve that without renting out a spare room (or air bed!) or a car seat in a ride share kind of way.

The market place is there with the idea that people can sell their stuff that they are not using or going to use and earn money from it. 

The same can applied to the services area.

By prohibiting big companies to advertise there is a more level playing field for everyday folks like you and I to build a business and succeed without competing with businesses that have deeper pockets and advertising budgets that we do.

Their ethos and philosophy is, in my opinion great - they are just not able to pull it off just yet!. 

There are some things that I don't like about Empowr, which were as follows:

Horrendous Rating With BBB

A so-so rating is something you can live with but a big Fat F is something to hang your head in shame about!. 

Takes Forever To Payout!

Ok, Payout is 90 days, but you get the idea!. Making you wait 3 months to get your hands on your money is disgusting!

Success Coaches Are Not So Helpful

It is like the blind leading the blind at times, where often the coaches inside Empowr don't know any more about the platform than you do!. 

Countless Name Changes

It is a concern that the platform has changed its name many times, at least 4 times. Can you be assured the name will not change again given their history? 

Auto Paypal Deductions

I don't think there is anything particularly wrong with this given that 1) you know about it and 2) you are told how much will be deducted. 

You just can't go in and take whatever you feel like and whenever you feel like it.

Although it is feasibly possible, I really don't think that you can or will earn a full time job replacing income with Empowr most due to the fact that most sites of this nature pay pennies on the dollar for your efforts. 

Given the 90 day earnings maturation policy, which is of no benefit to you.

Best to avoid them and find something better.

Personally I won't work with any company that doesn't pay in 30 days or less. 

No need to wait any longer, besides I have bills to pay every month, not every 90 days!.

As I have said above, what Empowr is trying to do is great and it is just not working for them. They are a legit company and business and as far as I can tell and investigated are not breaking any laws and have not been shut down by the authorities. 

Thus I have to say they are not a scam. 

I say that I don't think they are a scam, but I am no recommending you try Empowr either!.

Empowr do have a great idea and they are not unique - many similar sites have tried to make social networks that pay users. None have broadly succeeded. 

In Viet Nam, that have an App called Zalo, which is somewhat similar but don't pay users to post, no payment is made for social activity but locals do profit from the market place. 

Sites like Empowr fail to achieve their goal due to paying for social activity because no value is given, made or exchanged.

For example, if I post on Facebook or twitter, I do so to give some kind of social value and if someone likes, comments or shares (or retweets) there is that natural connection.

This does not happen when everyone is paid to post, incentivized to like and share content there is no real authentic interaction.

It's like going to a job you hate - you don't go because you really, really, really want to be there - you go because you are paid to and you have to, not because you want to!. Same for incentivised social media - the concept is just not a viable business model. 

There is a certain Harvard drop out that figured that one out a long time ago!.

Empowr, I'd love to recommend due to their ethos and because I really do love what they are trying to do. But I simply can't recommend to you something that I Know you won't be able to earn a full time income from. 

It goes against my own ethos!.
