• Your mother tongue must be English. 
• Excellent Grammar skills are a must, including Punctuation and Spelling. 
• Must be able to transcribe 4 to 5 hours of audio or video per week. (approximately 16 to 20 hours of work). 
• You must have reasonably modern and reliable Laptop with a fast internet connection and MS Office. 
• You will need to have a transcribers headset, foot pedal and professional transcription software. 
• Willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement. 
• Able to work efficiently, accurately and meet deadlines and expectations.
• Able and willing to work as an independent contractor.  

There is no mention of a minimum typing speed as an obligation or the use of a grammar checker.

If you are unable to meet their their obligations and requirements you can consider Proofreading, Teaching English Online, Online Bookkeeping or becoming a Virtual Assistant.

Unfortunately, there is no listing for Alpha Dog Transcriptions or Imaginal Cells, Inc, their parent company on the BBB Database. 

Having been established in 1995 (as per Linkedin profile) or 2005 as per domain registration date that is a VERY long time to be in business yet not registered or accredited with the Better Business Bureau.

A very unprofessional approach to business in my opinion!.

But, 

The competition is intense!. Particularly when it comes to the companies that hire unqualified and inexperienced transcriptionists, who entire world is your competition. 

Sure, you can pick up some work, and with a lot of effort you can make a go for it but it is awkward looking for work and picking up odd jobs on a daily basis from a dozen different sites and tracking where you got the file from, the date and the formatting and styling requirements for each site. 

I am not dismissing online transcription work completely out of hand as it is a good viable career option. 

Only if you get qualified!.
