The BetterPoints App is a best categorised and described as an activity tracker kind of app than the behavioural change app that they market themselves as. 

Although there is a large degree of truth in the latter statement. You could also viably describe them as a social change organisation also. 

The app was founded 2010, known then as Reward Your World Ltd,  in April of 2018 the domain https://www.betterpoints.ltd/ was registered by Mesh Digital Limited, who are registered as the domain name owners, Dan Gipple is named as the founder.

It is stated that the name change from Reward Your World Ltd To BetterPoints Ltd in 2016 on the Companies about us section - there is a degree of confusion as per the dates. 

As indicated below. 

Digging a little bit deeper and into the companies house database I can indeed confirm they are headquartered in West Sussex, United Kingdom. 

And clarify, at least official name changes and dates, and there does seem to be more changes than admitted to in the corporate bio. 

• 2010 Reward Your World LTD.
• 2013 From Reward Your World LTD To RYD Community Systems.
• 2016 From  RYD Community Systems To BetterPoints LTD.

*I am not sure where Mesh Digital Limited Fits in to all of this!. 

Who Are The Owners Of BetterPoints App

Dan Gipple is the founder of BetterPoints and described as a serial entrepreneur who focuses on tech ventures related to social responsibility and digital health. 

Carbon River, Acclaria, New Marketing Technologies are listed as businesses he has founded or co-founded dating back 25+ years. 

in 2017 he was listed as a national finalist in Barclays Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. 

BetterPoints App Lawsuit

There appear to no lawsuits filed against BetterPoints App by any regulatory authorities and or private citizens or any corporation.

I was not expecting to find much in regards to legal action - unless something pretty significant as the UK is not a "Sue & Screw" society, although that is slowly changing!. 

Let's talk about how this app work in terms of making money with it - which is what you are curious about..right? 

You need to do just 4 things as follows: 

1. Download The BetterPoints App And Register An Account.

Firstly, and foremost this app is available for both iOS Devices Here and Android Devices Here. 

Download the app and install it. Once you have it installed you need to register an account with them and answer a few questions regarding your personal details. 

This app, unfortunately is only available to those based in the UK and for those that are aged 14 years old or older. 

There is no cheating the app by using a VPN as the app required the use o your GPS and location data for it to work. 

2. Join One Of Their Rewards Programs

You are over 14 years old, based in the UK and able to take part you will need to find a rewards program for you to join after you have registered your account in order for you to take make money with BetterPoints. 

The rewards programs are operated by different companies that sponsor or partner with BetterPoints. 

Each company focuses on different areas like healthy activities like walking, jogging, cycling while others focus on greener activities like reducing the carbon footprint of users. 

You can select as many as you wish, that is entirely your choice.

3. Make A Log Of Your Activities

Once you have downloaded the app, installed it, set an account and chosen which rewards programs you wish to take part in. 

At this point you will now be given different activities that you can take part in, complete and keep track off. 

The App is not one that you can sync with or connect to a FitBit or something similar as it functions using your Phones GPS and tracks your steps or which activity you are doing like cycling in this way and thus has to be running in the background for it to work. 

After 60 seconds of inactivity the app automatically shuts down to save battery time.

It can also be set to work in the background to save draining your battery. 

4. Get Rewarded For Your Effort.

When you complete the activities that you selected you will earn points - aptly named BetterPoints!. 

You can earn in the region of one point for every 30 seconds of activity, paid in blocks of 60 seconds. 

Currently you are limited to 300 points Maximum per week which is around 2.5hrs of activity. 

If you want to donate your points to charity you need to first have a total of 20,000 points which would take approximately 16.5 months to achieve based on the maximum 300 points per week basis. 

If you want to points for yourself to exchange for some product you need a minimum of of 3,000 points - 10 weeks of activity at maximum level!.

 How Do BetterPoints Make Money?

Let's make no mistake about it - a fluffy and flowery as they may wish to sound and appear - they are a for profit business. 

Initially, I suspected the app used the advertising revenue business model with advertising on the app. 

At this moment in time, this does not appear to be the case at all. No revenue is generated by in app purchases (currently) or as a premium app. 

The app is financed by government grants, donations, sponsorship and by partner challenge contracts similar to HealthyWage. 

Evidently this is not actually going to be a solid and reliable way of making money as spending money is not making money.

The BetterPoints app appears to aimed towards thise that need a challenge and would benefit from a behavioural change due to that challenge. 

Apps like this work on a deep psychological Risk Vs Reward basis and provide a dopamine boost and sense of achievement. 

Often when it comes to something like losing weight or getting in shape that motivation, inspiration is not there long enough to cause a behavioural change and stick with it.

Those that struggle in this area would benefit from this app. 

There is no actual way for you to be paid in cold hard cash. You cannot exchange your BetterPoints for cash.

You can only cash out your points by exchanging them for gift vouchers which you can use in various high street retailers such as Evans Cycles and Hotel Chocolat, or other associated partners. 

No, 

I hardly needed to check this one out (even though I did). I checked The UK Equivalent which is the Trading Standards Office and the Citizens Advice Bureau. 

There is no listing or warning or any information pertaining to BetterPoints at either organisation. 

There is no mention of BetterPoints on The Truth In Advertising website, this is indicative of them not partaking in deceptive advertising or misleading marketing practices. 

The most common complaint and the biggest one pertains to not actually being paid in cash, which really defeats the entire ethos of the company to really inspire people to change their habits!. 

Currently 1,000 BetterPoints is the equivalent of just 1 GBP, due to the 300 point weekly limit you are limited to a massive 30 pence (about 36/37 cents!) per week or 15GBP per year (more or less). 

Basically you are not going to earn any money at all worth mentioning by "GOYA" and getting in shape, and kicks their "Behavioural Change" mission statement to touch!. 

You have the option of taking and completing sitting on your backside and taking some of their surveys that come up - some of which reward you 5,000 points for answering just a few questions!

Well, 

that would save you doing 16.5 weeks or activities like cycling, walking etc etc..

...remind me why this app exists? 

...and I'll tell you why entity that owns it keeps on changing it's name!.

Save The Student website claims to have made 40 GBP in 5 months with a mix of surveys, other tasks and activities.

Really!?! 

40GBP (about 50 bucks!) in 5 months....

This is really one of the worse GPT Reward sites I have seen in a while!. 

I understand now, why my background check revealed at the companies house they are currently overdue on their tax bill...

If users are not generating revenue neither is the app, there is no money flowing into or out of the business in large quantities which means not much profit (if any) is being made.  

Despite all, there are some things that I did like about this which were: 

• Free To Join And Use.
• You can earn some money from the app in the form of vouchers.
• Easy to use.

There are some thing that I did not like about BetterPoints App, which were: 

• Only available In The UK. 
• No actual cash payments. 
• Insanely low earning potential. 

From I have uncovered during my investigation, it is not possible for you to earn any money at all with BetterPoints.

Even the value of the vouchers and earning potential related to them is insanely low!. 

BetterPoints is not a scam at all.

It is just an opportunity from which you will gain very little financial benefit. You will enjoy some health benefits from partaking in regular exercise thought. 

I'll leave this one up to you to make the ultimate decision as I am not one to discourage anybody from living a healthy life and getting in shape. 

If you need that jolt of inspiration - then maybe you could get that from this app. As a money maker, I would not count of this to make you money.
