The more detailed your answer is the more authoritative and knowledgeable you will appear to be in your niche.

This technique, I nickname and call it "Spanish inquisition" technique simply because it involves being inquisitive as to finding out what questions your audience is asking and what their pain points are.

And hardly a blog exists that does not have at least a few "Top 5 or Top 10" or "Best 5 or Best 10" Or "best ways to" or "Top ways to..." kind of article.

Why is kinda obvious!

They are interesting, create curiosity and above all get traffic. And they are nice easy article to write and create.

Blog Post Ideas - Cornerstone Content

At least once per month you want to be making content that form the corner stone of your blog.

These are typically long form content of at least 10,000 words - not 10,000 words of fluff or filler content. 10,000 words of high quality detailed articles.

I call them blockbuster content! simply that is what you are doing, creating absolute blockbuster stunning fantastic epic content that is the very best of its kind anywhere on the internet.

In fact, you wanna make it so darned well good that nobody dare to even try to better it.

There was a niche that I entered that was pretty competitive and tough market to crack.

I managed to get my way in that market and earn a very sizeable $10,000/month inside the first 12 months by smashing down the door and creating  ONLY 10,000 word+ blockbuster articles on a weekly basis.

Sure it was tough going, but those article are traffic magnets, ranking for hundreds of keywords each!.

Typical articles of this nature are:

  • Ultimate Guides
  • All You Need To Know About...
  • Complete Guide To...
  • Blueprint To..
  • The Very Last Guide To....That You Will Ever Need To Read

This kind of content is not only keyword magnets, they are magnets for links and social shares too.

People love to share stuff of quality, high quality. On this kind of article you really to want to show off your design skills and make those post eye candy and eye catching!.

What To Write About In A Blog Post - An Expert Round Up!

On the face of it these articles appear to be of no work at all, at least content creation wise.

But,

There is a heck of a lot of work going on in the background in terms of outreach and contacting leaders and influencers in your niche and getting a reasonable number of experts - looking at 30 at least, and managing this aspect and then carefully crafting and coming up with a question or topic for them to respond to.

And,

That's only barely half the job!

You still have to stitch it all together, and then you are still not done..even after you hit publish...

You need to recontact the contributors, the experts and inform them politely that the content is live and they have been featured.

...Ya know, they might share it. Most probably they will - they will love the exposure, just as much as you will the traffic and possibly the link.

This, expert round up is certainly something that you should be doing form the very start of launching your site.

What To Write About In A Blog

Hold an expert round up, ask your peers their opinion and thoughts  on a certain topic

Outreach and digitally "hob nobbing and rubbing shoulders" with those in your niche and building relationships as well as possible partnerships is certainly going to help you a lot, and in a big way to establish yourself.

Look at doing one expert round up per month, different set of experts and don't annoy the same ones over and over and over again..and again.

There will be some you really strike it with, and who knows maybe even last a guest post with or...

Brings me to another very interesting blog topic....

Interviews!.

Interview Experts In Your Field

As above, the brunt of the actual content is very much done by the individual expert that you are interviewing.

Still,

You are not getting off lightly here as there is a lot of unseen work going on the background establishing relationships, setting up related questions that provoke a detailed response and are helpful as well as interesting for not only your readers but for the experts also.

The aim is to run such a fabulous interview that it draws the attention of your interviewee's crowd as well as your own and perhaps even the interviewee gives you a shout out on social media drawing attention to the interview.

Again, this is a good thing to do once per month especially when you are establishing yourself in a given niche.

Pretty soon with all this outreach you'll be establishing your site and becoming recognised yourself and someone, many will be requesting to interview you.

It happens, and has happened to me across many niches!.

Blog Post Ideas - conduct interviews

Be sure To Interview Experts In Your Field.

More Blog Post Ideas - Content Round Up!

Similar to an expert round up but this time you are creating a collation of the very best blog post in regards to a certain topic in your niche.

Be sure to fully credit each post and article mentioned

Basically with a content round up post you are adding existing content into a blog post by writing a very brief one or two sentence summary of what each article is about and why you included it.

Lets be clear here, just for absolute clarification I am not saying copy a blog post any except from it, I saying summarise in 2, maybe ever 3 sentences maximum what the article is about.

Be sure to fully and properly reference the articles and who wrote them.

I Really Do Want You To Succeed And Win Back Your Freedom And To Live The Life You Have Always Dreamed Of. It Is Time Now To Take Action And Stop Procrastinating!.

When you get this absolutely right, it can and will be a massive social share and backlink bonanza, particularly when you feature the right content, right people, and beautifully present the content and the experts that created it.

And don't forget to tell those that you featured that you did a content round up and featured them.

(Massive ego boost for them to be featured alongside other well known experts)

A content round up post will give your audience a great list of helpful and handy resources that will save them from looking for it, and it gives your peers credit and kudos.

And you, traffic and backlinks and perhaps even leveraging their audience.

Wanna get down and dirty???

I should be thrown in Bloggers Version Of Bangkok Hilton for suggesting this....

Later, a few months or years down the line, you can bang out content of your own that is similar to what is featured in your content round up post(s) and internally (instead of externally) to your own content, essentially creating an SEO friendly Silo.

....and you will still have all those social shares and backlinks pointing to your new but edited content round up post.

Call the bloggin' cops - that has gotta be a freakin' crime!

Because You Know You Are Never Short Of Something To Write About On Your Blog! The Question Is Are You Willing To Turn Your Passion Into A Full Time income?!?

Yes, this is another blog post that you could bang out once a month. Lets get this right, once a week you could end up featuring some kind of outreach based article be it a:

  • Interview
  • Expert Round Up
  • Content Round Up

And one I have yet to mention...

A Debate!

Host A Debate On Your Site

Hosting a debate on your site is a pretty polemic and fabulous piece of content to create. Just present it in a mature fashion allowing both sides of the argument to air their own views.

State your own personal view point and where you stand in the manner - your regular readers will know where you stand in regards to the topic but state it clearly for new readers.

All you have to do is present the debate, write an introduction, and introduce the 3-5 participants of each side, typically "pros and cons" or "for and against" the topic.

Then summarise both side of the debate without drawing too much of a conclusion and allow your readers to draw their own opinion from what they have read and invite them to continue the discussion in the comments section.

Here is a great example of a well done and excellently hosted debate by Doug Cunnington.

There is no debating about What To Write About In A Blog post, debates are awesome

There is no debating it - debates make for great content

News Jacking

Keeping on top of the latest news and providing a weekly news round up in regards to your industry and niche is a great way of driving a ton of traffic to your site and makes for great and relevant content that sparks the interest of your audience.

To keep ahead of the latest news in your industry simply keep an eye on google news and set up google alerts for certain keywords related to your blogging topic and niche and google will automatically and periodically email you with alerts regarding the latest news.

Product Reviews

The bread and butter for all bloggers and a great way to monetize a site quickly is to create product reviews.

Product reviews are very much at the top end of the "buyer keyword and intent" spectrum. Usually these keywords are in the format of Product +Review.

As you can guess and imagine the type of person that searching using those keywords has a genuine desire for information regarding the product and an interest in buying it.

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

This is something you have seen me use a lot! Quite often I will add a FAQ at the end of blog posts to help readers.

You can dedicate entire articles and blog posts to FAQ's related to the topic of your blog.

These articles tend to get ranked very well and, do it well and any one of the questions, if not, more than one, could get featured in position zero of google.

Thus, do properly investigate what the popular questions are that are being asked and searched for by your potential audience and check them out in google and give far superior answers and better presented that your rivals - particularly the ones that are getting featured!.
