After studying Softscript, it is easy to see that they function as a business process outsourcing company in the field of Medical Transcription. 

The work arrives at Softscript via their clients, which are predominately hospitals, clinics and Physician groups. 

This work then gets handed over, outsourced, to their team of Medical Transcriptionists for processing. 

The work once completed by the Medical Transcriptionist gets passed forwards for quality checks and editing if neccessary before getting returned to the client for acceptance. 

What Is The Work Like?

The work of a Medical Transcriptionist requires a detailed knowledge of medical processes, vocabulary, terminology and drugs used. 

To do the job well, a high level of concentration, an eye and ear for detail and a must. Quick and accurate typing skills will help too. 

Accuracy and the ability to proofread your work is important as mistakes in this field can have drastic consequences.

What Are The Application Requirements?

For both positions it is required that you work some weekends. You must have knowledge of medical terminology and the procedures and guidelines used by AAMT. 

All applicants must have completed a Medical Transcription Program and have 3 years experience in the field and the ability to access reference material such a medical terminology checker and Medical spell checker. 

It is necessary to have first class listening skills and the ability to understand various accents and dialects and dictation styles. 

You must have a strong hold of the English Language inclusive of grammar, spelling and punctuation. 

The ability to speak, read and write English fluently. 

It is required that you have basic computer skills including the use of Windows OS and MS Word. 

Preference is given to Certified Medical Transcriptionists. 

There is no mention of any requirement or obligation in regards to hardware or software or a minimum typing speed. 

If you are unable to meet their requirements, give some consideration to Proofreading, Online Bookkeeping, Teaching English Online or becoming a virtual assistant.

Softscript are rated very averagely to below average at 2.4 on Glassdoor with only 35% saying they would recommend a friend to work there. 

They are rated better but still rather average at 3.3 on Indeed.com. 

Most of the negative complaints are centered around the lack of communication from management and those higher up.

It is claimed by many that your emails regarding anything will not be addressed or responded to unless it is beneficial for management. Otherwise...no reply!.

There are not many complaints or negative feedback about the actual job other than a claim that the font often gets made smaller to reduce the number of lines that a Medical Transcriber gets to transcribe.
