Pacific Transcription are a Business Process Outsourcing agency who function using the universally accepted agency business model. 

They receive their work from their clients and then outsource the tasks to their network of independent contractors who complete the work then returning it to Pacific Transcription who forward the completed project for approval by the client. 

Once approved by the client, Pacific Transcription will forward your payment for the work done to you. 

What Is The Work Like?

The transcription work available from Pacific Transcription is no different to what you would expect from a serious, professional transcriptions agency. 

A lot of the work can be dry and technical, with a bulk of their work being from the Academia, Medical, finance and Legal fields, thus knowledge and familiarity with the technical terms and languages used in those areas. 

Transcription work, although a very easy job is a skill, it is much more than just being a good listener and fast typist. 

The work can be varied and interesting, be sure to pick up a variety of different projects to avoid the groundhog day sensation and take regular breaks.   

What Are The Application Requirements?

Firstly and fore most, this is an international opportunity. The opportunity is not exclusively for Australians or Australian residents. They do encourage Australian and New Zealanders who are living else where to apply. 

There is a list of preferred countries in which Pacific Transcription prefer to hire from. These, notable are all countries where English is widely Spoken.

• South Africa
• India

Notable absentee's from that list is Malaysia and Singapore. 

However, it is clearly stated that being a native speaker of the English Language is not a set in stone obligation, although it is preferred for medical transcription work, but "Extremely fluent" is also accepted in this case. 

What is required is being able to understand certain foreign accents when speaking English as many of the work theirreceive, particularly in the Financial transcription area.  

• Research Transcriptionists are requiredto accurately type at 70 Words Per Minute or Faster and able to perform research activities using the internet.

• Must have up to date equipment and sufficient IT skills. 

• Must Be Available For 16 hours work weekly. 

• Prior transcription experience is a must, with 5 years being stated for Medical transcriptionists and a speciality in at least 4 areas of medical transcription.

• A modern laptop or desktop computer. Must Be Windows based, not iOS. 

• Must be using Windows 10 or Greater.

• Express Scribe professional, Foot pedal and headset are a must.  
• You Must be Willing to transcribe 4 hours of audio or video per week. 

Not mentioned but very useful for checking the accuracy of your work is a high quality grammar and spell checker. 

If you don't meet their requirements, for whatever reason be it a lack of experience or your typing speed or whatever you can consider Proofreading, Online Bookkeeping, Teaching English Online, or Becoming a Virtual Assistant.

There is currently no mention of being tested. I expect that you will have to take some kind of transcription test to prove your ability and talent as a transcriber.
