You should always check for the legal history of a business opportunity that you are interested in, particularly if it is a network marketing opportunity. 

Multi-Level marketing companies attract lawsuits like moths to a glowing light. 

You don't want to be investing in a new business only to find that they get shut down amidst a lawsuit 3 months later. 

This is a record of a 2011 Lawsuit filed by the ERC - The Environmental Research Center for the violation of Health And Safety regulations for having excessive amounts of lead in their products. 

 There are no current lawsuits pending by any regulatory authority, private citizen, corporation, current or former distributors.

The Purium 10 Day Transformation Plan

This is their top of the range flagship Product, which Purium directly, and their distributors claim:

• Results can be seen on the first day.
• Fastest, simplest and easiest weight loss system in the world.
• Muscle can be built without exercising
• Up to 20 pounds (approx 4.5kg) of body fat can be lost in 10 days.

These are pretty strong claims to make, naturally you should always consult with a Physician prior to taking any dietary supplement or participating in a diet program. 

Here is how Purium 10 day transformation program works: 

• 1. Take the nutrient enhanced Purium Shake, which is in powder form, Mix it well. 

• 2. Once 2 hours have passed take their Vegan friendly protein tablets. It is due to these tablets that Purium claim you can gain muscle without the need for exercising. 

• 3. Without the excessive calories from low quality processed food you body burns fat and aids your body to release toxins and chemicals that get stored in the fat. This is what is claimed to to give you a complete detox. 

• 4. To completely expel the toxins there is a range of supplements with the 10 Day Transformational Program to help your body to perform this detox process efficiently.

While that sounds like a pretty amazing product, but it comes at a cost, US$249 for a 10 day package which may affect your ability to sell it. 

Also, 

It has been said that many people fail to complete the 10 days due to side effects. 

Most importantly, while researching the product I could not find any information regarding independently conducted clinical research or trials or double blind studies confirming the claims made. 

• Blue Diamond Rank: To qualify here you need to have 100 Personal Volume per month, recruit a minimum of 6 commission qualified distributors, 3 of which must be Executive Rank or above, have a monthly total downline Group Volume of 50,000.

• Black Diamond Rank: To qualify here you need to have 100 Personal Volume per month, recruit a minimum of 6 commission qualified distributors, 1 of which must be Diamond Rank and need to be 2 Executive Rank or above, have a monthly total downline Group Volume of 75,000.

• Red Diamond Rank: To reach this rank you need to have 100 Personal Volume per month, recruit a minimum of 6 commission qualified distributors, 2 of which must be Diamond Rank and 1 has to be an Executive Rank or above have a monthly Total downline Group Volume of 100,000.

Rank requirements for all starred Crown Ranks are waived if they have 50% of their Group Volume from a single Unilevel leg. 

Purium Retail Commission Earnings

When you sell Purium products to retail clients you can earn a 15% commission. If you have 50 Personal Volume or greater on a monthly autoship your retail commission gets bumped up to 30%. 

If you are a fully certified or licenced health professional and have 500 Buisiness Volume of products when you signed up you can earn a commission of 45% on retail products that you sell. 

Multi-Level Marketing Commission Qualification

To be commission qualified for MLM residual passup commissions you must sell at least 50 Personal Volume per month. 

Purium Recruitment Commission Earnings

When you recruit a new distributor that joins Purium on a Starter Pack (any one of the three available), you will earn a US$50. 

• You can earn US$75 when you recruit Gold Enrolment package Distributors per week For a  Maximum 2 recruits.

• Your 1st and 2nd Platinum Enrolment Package recruit earns you US$150 for each recruit, the 3rd and 4th earn you US$200 each, 5th and beyond earns you US$250 each one; calculated on a weekly basis.  

• Your 1st and 2nd Launch Enrolment package recruit earns you US$250, 3rd and 4th earn you US$300 each and the 5th and beyond earn you US$350 for each on; calculated on a weekly basis. 

Purium 1st Order Bonus

This bonus is paid when the first order by any and every one of your recruits and retail clients place their first order. This bonus is calculated using the unilevel compensation model. 

The unilevel compensation model is very easy to understand. You are positioned at the top of this model. When you recruit others to join you team, them are placed below you on your level 1. 

These recruits are called your personal recruits, direct recruits and often your front line. 

When your level one manage to recruit people into the Purium business opportunity they are placed on your level 2, and when your level to recruit other they are placed on to your level 3. 

The Unilevel compensation model continues in this fashion. 

This bonus is capped and paid only 4 levels deep. How many of those levels you can earn on depends on where you are ranked: 

• Associate Rank: Earn A 25% Commission on your level 1 Only.
• Builder Rank: Earn A 25% Commission on your level 1 and a 5% commission on your level 2 recruits.
• Consultant Rank: Earn a 25% commission on your level 1 and and a 5% commission on your levels 2 and 3 recruits.
• Director Rank: Earn a 25% commission on your level 1 and a 5% commission on your levels 2, 3 and 4. 

Purium Residual Commissions

The residual commissions are also calculated using the Unilevel compensation model. 

Your earnings are a percentage of the downlines sales made by your team with the number of levels that you can earn from is determined by your rank: 

• Associate Rank: Earn a 5% commission from your level 1 recruits
• Builder Rank: Earn a 5% commission from your level 1 and 2 recruits
• Consultant Rank: Earn a 5% commission from your level 1, 2, 3, and 4. 
• Director Rank: Earn a 5% commission from your level 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. 
• Executive Rank: Earn a 5% commission from your level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. 
• Diamond Rank: Earn a 5% commission from your level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Purium Matching Bonus

Purium have a matching bonus which they pay on 4 levels which is determined by where rank with the company:

• Diamond Rank: Earn a 10% matching bonus from your level 1 only.

• Green & Blue Diamond Ranks:– Earn a 10% matching bonus from your level 1 and a 5% commission on your level 2 recruits.

• Black & Red Diamond Ranks: Earn a 10% matching bonus from your levels 1 and level 2 recruits. 

• Crown Rank & 2-Star Crown Ranks: Earn a 10% matching bonus from your levels 1 and your level 2 and a 5% matching bonus from your level 3 recruits.

• 3 Star Crown Rank up to 5 Star Crown Ranks: Earn a 10% matching bonus from your levels 1, 2 and 3 recruits. 

• Royal Crown Rank I: Earn a 10% matching bonus from your levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 recruits. 

• Royal Crown Rank II: Earn a 10% commission from levels 1, 2 and 3 and a 20% commission from your level 4 recruits.

Infinity Bonus

This bonus is what is known as a generational bonus and permits you to earn past the 8 levels in the unilevel plan by Purium. 

Beginning at the rank of green diamond, Purium distributors can earn a 2% bonus from one generation from the 9th level and onwards. 

A generation is up until another Green Diamond member or greater is discovered beyond the 9th level of the unilevel model. 

Blue diamonds and above distributors can earn a 2% bonus on 2 generations. 

A generation is defined in the same fashion as above. 

Rank Achievement Bonus

This bonus is time defined and rewards you for achieving certain ranks within a Pre-determined time frame. 

• Reach The  Consultant Rank inside three months and you will earn a US$50 Bonus; US$50 is earned by your  upline sponsor.

• Reach The Director Rank inside four months and will earn a US$100; US$100 is earned by your  upline sponsor

• Reach The Executive Rank inside 5 months and you will earn a US$200; US$200 is earned by your  upline sponsor.

A US$500 bonus is paid when you reach the rank of Diamond with no time restraint given to achieve this rank and bonus. 

Lifestyle Bonus

Diamond Ranks and above can earn a lifestyle bonus as follows: 

• Diamond Rank: Earn a US$300 Bonus
• Green Diamond Rank: Earn a US$600 Bonus
• Blue Diamond Rank: Earn a US$1200 Bonus
• Black Diamond Rank: Earn a US$1800 Bonus
• Red Diamond Rank: Earn a US$2500 Bonus
• Crown Rank: Earn a US$3000 Bonus
• 2 Star Crown Rank: Earn A US$4000 Bonus
• 3 Star Crown Rank: Earn A US$5000 Bonus

This bonus is a monthly bonus. 

Diamond And Crown Bonus Pools

The smaller of the two bonus pools is the Diamond Bonus pool. Both are generated from 1% of all Puriums sales state side. 

Diamond Ranks get 1 share, Green Diamonds get 2 shares while Blue Diamonds are allowed 3 shares of the bonus pool, which is a 1% bonus pool. 

The other diamond bonus pool, which is also a 1% bonus pool for Black Diamond Ranks who get 1 share only while Red Diamond Ranks get 2 Shares. 

The Crown Bonus Pool is a generated from 3% of the companies sales volume from sales made in the US Only!. 

The Crown Pool Is Distributed in the following way:

• Crown Rank Distributors get 1 share Only
• 2 Star Crown Rank Distributors get 2 shares Of the bonus pool
• 3 Star Crown Rank Distributors get 3 shares Of the bonus pool
• 4 Star Crown Rank Distributors get 4 shares Of the bonus pool
• 5 Star Crown Rank Distributors get 5 shares Of the bonus pool

In my opinion doing your homework and properly checking out how a particular business opportunity is viewed by such organisations like the Better Business Bureau, The Truth in advertising and the Direct Sellers Association is important as it helps us to get a good solid background into how they do business and how professional they are in their attitude. 

While searching for Purium on the Better Business Bureau website you get redirected to their former name Organic By Nature. 

They are not accredited and hold a perfect A+ Rating. 

The Direct Sellers Association is an organisation that seeks to root out the bad operators from the goods one with a strict set of guidelines for members to adhere to. 

Membership is not so easy to get as the very stringent audit process can take a year to complete.

Unfortunately, there is no listing for Purium on their members database meaning Purium are not members of the DSA and neither have their membership pending the completion of an audit.

The truth in advertising or TINA as they are known is an independent website and organisation that warns the public and authorities of deceitful and misleading advertising of products by various businesses. 

There is no listing for Purium while searching their website indicating that Purium do not participate in false or misleading advertising practices.  

There are concerning complaints made regarding Purium when fishing around in the digital world. 

I have reproduced those below for your reading and as evidence. 

Purium diet is an extremely low calorie diet plan that last for only 10 days, like an extreme crash diet. 

It promises rapid weight loss. The 600 calorie per day diet is said by experts not to be safe nor healthy. Over the short 10 day period users have complained of fatigue and other side effects. 

Purium's 10 Day Transformation diet is said to help cleanse your body, detoxify, improve sleep and metabolism is claimed to help users to lose 8 inches and 11 inches (about 5 kg) in only 10 days. 

Purium's Products are USDA, the United States Department of Agriculture certified as Organic and while it is claimed their are Vegan friendly I have seen no solid evidence of that. 

I see no endorsement or approval by Vegan societies or associations independently confirming their products to be Vegan. 

No. 

Purium is not approved by the FDA as the Food and Drug Administration do not approve of dietary supplements of any description for use on or in the human body to treat, manage, cure or prevent any known diseases. 

I have seen no indication of the Products by Purium to be manufactured in a clean and safe environment or holding any certifications such as the cGMP to confirm this. 

Some reported side effects of Purium products, particularly the 10 day transformation product include irritability, fatigue and stomach cramps.

Always consult with your Physician before taking supplements and starting a diet regime. 

There are some good things that I liked about Purium: 

• They are Perfectly rated at the Better Business Bureau.
• They have an excellent sales tactic - giving away discount cards. 
• 60 day money back guarantee. 
• There have a lot of very happy customers indicating good product quality.

There are some things that I did not like about Purium: 

• Not listed as members of the Direct Sellers Association
• Their products are VERY Expensive
• Expensive to get started. 
• Products Side effects.

To answer this as best and as accurately as I can, we need to look at the company's income disclosure statement which will give both you and I an indication of how much you can earn and how likely you are to achieve it. 

Let's see!.

The Green Diamond column tell us all we need to know!. 

0.417% of all active distributors are earning and average of US$34,286.72 per year which we must remember is total income and earnings, this figure does not include taxes or other business related expenses. 

It is fair to say that less that half a percent are earning a reasonable full time income with this business opportunity, meaning 99.583% of all active distributors are failing to earn a substantial income. 

Those figures of failure are very normal in the Network Marketing Industry. 

I can say with the figures backing me up that you can't make money with Purium. 

In my opinion there are elements of a Pyramid scheme with the  Purium Business Opportunity due the possible chain recruitment and autoship obligation. 

This is only my interpretation but being so recruitment heavy and having an autoship requirement it very easy for new distributors to forget about making retail sales and focus on recruitment and banging their recruits on autoship and getting them to do the same. 

This certainly appears to be a way in which they can be abused and used in this fashion by certain teams and individual distributors. 

Yes, 

Purium is without a doubt a multi-level marketing business opportunity. This is easily identifiable due to distributors being paid over several levels and the adoption of known network marketing compensation models. 

In my opinion Purium is not a scam as I have seen no direct or indirect acts of deception that would lead to a financial loss. 

Purium is marketed and presented in a manner that has a health shop feel to it than a typical network marketing opportunity.

Purium looks like a great opportunity and a very interesting business to get involved with but there are concerns in regards to starting costs and of course the low success rate. 

less than 0.5% of active distributors going on to earn a full time income means that your chances of succeeding are less than 1 in 200!. 

With that in mind, I don't recommend this opportunity.
