What Is LifeVantage?
LifeVantage started off as a traditional retail business back in 1988 when they were formerly known as LifeLine TheraPeautics. The Business Rebranded and changed their name to LifeVantage and was announced at their AGM on November 21 2006.
Later they started integrating the MLM business model to market their products. LifeVantage are a publically traded company who are on the Nasdaq with the ticker symbol "LFVN".
The company has 32 registered trademarks and two patents. Currently they generate $205M USD annually.
LifeVantage operate in the heath and wellness niche, or to be more accurate neutraceutical and are famed for their Protandim product, of which they have received warning letters from the FDA due to their marketing claims and making unsubstantiated claims in regards to the product.
LifeVantage make the claim to be the leader in a specific area of science known as "Nrf2 Science" which in laymans terms means they know a fair bit about key cell regulators of our bodies antioxidant response.
It is just Scientific jargon used to help convince people to buy their product and give it validity.
Just telling people their products are high in antioxidants that help combat cellular stress or fight free radicales just doesn't make them stand out from the crowd, so I suspect this is the reasoning behind the jargon!.
But "Nrf2" oh wow..must be awesome!.
Free radicals. That is all.
LifeVantage Product Line
As Health & Wellness form the product line for LifeVantage they are focused on improving your health, helping you to look younger and their business opportunity to help make you that little bit wealthier.
They even have products for your Dog!.
Let's now list their products:
Protandim (Nutritional)
This is what you would call the companies flagship product. It is one that is unnecessarily polemic. The only reason it is polemic is due to hyped up "Excremental of the bovine nature" Marketing.
Straight up - it is just a blend of 5 herbs and that's it.
- Milk Thistle
- Bacopa Monniere
- Ashwagandha
- Tumeric
- Green Tea.
This ain't no magical cancer cure like the company claimed - It's green tea, an Indian spice, a weed, a flower and a herb! -No fountain of youth either!.
PhysIQ (Fitness)
A line of supplements to aid in weightloss, burn fat and supplement protein in take.
TrueScience (Beauty)
Skincare products with cleansers, lotions, serums, and anti ageing products.
Axio (Energy)
An Energy drink that is aimed to aid clarity focus and concentration as well as mental alertness.
LifeVantage Compensation Plan
With life vantage you have 8 ways in which you can generate revenue for your business.
1.Retail Sales
This is when you sell LifeVantage Products either in person or from your website. Pretty straight forward, just traditional selling of products.
2. Smart Start Bonus
This is a bonus paid for referring new distributors or Prefered clients to LifeVantage. This is paid only for the 1st month after they enrolled.
The actual bonus amount is dependent upon your Personal Volume generated. The bonus varies from 30% to 40%.
You can earn this bonus provided your new distributors join at silver, gold or the platinum pack.
3. Launch Bonus
This is similar to above, except that it is paid based on customers & distributors that have been recruited by your downline. This bonus is referred to as a "trickle up".
The amount depends on your rank, and what package the newly enrolled distributor buys, and varies from $2.50 to $50. To qualify you need a Personal Volume of At least 200/month.
4. Royalty Commissions
This is a monthly commission based on the monthly income from you and your whole downline.
To get this you need to rise to higher ranks in the organisation. Moving ranks is achieved by generating sales and recruitment as well as generating a sufficient amount of Personal Volume sales as well as the Organisational Volume (OV) sales (the sales generated by your entire downline).
5.Generational Matching
If you manage to rise the ranks and reach the level of "Pro 3" or greater you qualify for a bonus called a generational matching, which is paid on a monthly basis.
How much your bonus here is related to your royalty commissions that you earned from your entire downline. It is calculated 5 levels deep only.
6. Elite Bonus Pool
This bonus is available for those on level Pro 7 or greater. 4% of every sale made in every single organisation is paid into the elite bonus and shared to those that get to pro level 7 of lifevantage or higher.
7. Achievement Bonus
This bonus is available of those that reach the rank of Pro 10, the amount can be $100,000 to $500,000 and is a one off payment.
8. Business Centers
If you achieve the rank of Pro 5, you are eligible for opening a new business centre, when you get as high as Pro 10 you can have as many as 4 business centres.
A Business centre simply permits you to "self-sponsor" and have your own additional life vantage business. It is technically possible to earn on 5 levels if you use the right strategy when placing them.

Is LifeVantage Accredited By The BBB?
I am the kind of person that gives value to and respect as well as a certain degree of trustworthiness to businesses and companies that are fully accredited and well rated by consumer organisations and advocacy groups.
LifeVantage is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, however they do hold an A- rating with the organisation.
Common Complaints
The most common complaints I seen about LifeVantage in relation to their business was the difficulty in canceling products, getting refunds and the unethical promotion of their products and business opportunity by their distributors.
Is Protandim FDA Approved?
Have searched for looked and read the companies website and FAQ document this question and its answer is skirted around.
I won't skirt around the answer. No, Protandim is not FDA Approved.
See how the company skirts around telling you that they are not Approved by the FDA rather than telling you straight out that they are not approved.
Is Protandim All Natural?
No,
I am not sure if LifeVantage claim that the product is all natural or not but I can tell you for sure that Protandim is not All Natural.
It is made from a blend of 5 Herbs, Green Tea, Bacopa Monniera, Turmeric, Ashwagandha, and Milk Thistle. While the herbs are grown naturally they are not Organic.
Despite the formulation of Protandim containing Green Tea, A flower, A Spice, A Weed and a Herb it also contains silica, steric acid, and other compounds like croscarmellose sodium and modified cellulose which tells me the product is NOT all natural

What I Liked About LifeVantage
There was a lot that I liked about LifeVantage such as:
They are a long established company.
The revenue generated by this company can be measured in the hundreds of millions of USD. Being along established gives credential to their longevity an dthey they will be around for many years to come.
Public Listed Company
This sets LifeVantage apart from regular MLM an creates an air of respectability that they are genuine as their a publicly traded company on Nasdaq.
Well Rated By The BBB
It is always good to see companies that highly rated by consumer advocacy groups, this is certainly good for the trust factor!
What I Did Not Like About LifeVantage
There is a lot
They Pay For The Scientific Studies
To say that their products undergo independent 3rd party testing is not exactly true.
I'll need to be careful with my wording here as the company has been known to sue independent bloggers.
It has been alleged that the company previously disclosed the fact that on several occasions research was paid for.
I think you get the idea, and know what I am trying say without actually saying it!. Let's leave it at that.
Now if an unrelated company called UnlifeVantage offered you $100,000 to perform research on their product how independent would your results be? How Unbiased?
LifeVantage Or A Clear DisadVantage? #ScamAlert
They Lied About Who Created Protadim
Protadim was created out of a failed LifeVantage product where the creator went about creating a natural version of the failed product.
The Creator, Mr Paul Myhill, no degree, no medical background or training or any credentials in the industry was able to create a herbal working version of what they were trying to achieve.
For a public firm like LifeVantage they needed "a face" to make the product more sellable and convincing for both the industry and Joe Public they hired well respected Scientist in Dr Joe McCord, who was paid in stock options worth 7 figures to tell the world he created Protadim.
The Lie didn't last long.
On 13th of April 2012 Paul Myhill posted a statement on Social media (Facebook)
"LifeVanatge and their communications are completely misleading, false, misleading and a fraud - one that the FTC and SEC should know about"
Further statements and proof with Dr Joe McCord admitting that can't take the credit for the invention and creation of Protadim due to it being "so close to completion before the beginning of his association"
It was not long before Paul Myhill took down the posts.
It Is Difficult To Cancel Monthly Orders
This was one of the frequent complaints that I came across. A company of the stature of LifeVantage should not have issues like this at all.
Most People Fail With This Business Opportunity
More on this a later. Self explanatory!.
Products Are Not FDA Approved
None of the products by LifeVantage are approved by the Food And Drug Administration.
Can You Make Money From LifeVantage
While you can actually make money with LifeVantage it is not likely that you will earn a full time income form the company. This conclusion I have made based on the income disclosure statement below.
Only 1% of distributors managed to earn a full time income greater than minimum salary.
In other words 99% fail to make at least national minimum income.
Thankfully there are better opportunities available.
Is LifeVantage A Pyramid Scheme?
MLM's
This means that LifeVantage is perfectly Legal and not a Pyramid Scheme.
This is by no way means that the company is ethical. Multi Level Marketing creates the environment where there
Distributors buy an excessive amount of products/services due erroneous thinking
That buying
The whole Multi Level Marketing System

Is LifeVantage A MLM Business Opportunity?
Yes, LifeVantage is a multi level marketing business opportunity. They operate using this business model and pay on several levels and ranks.
Is LifeVantage A Scam Or Legit?
LifeVantage is not a scam, I doubt that a company that is public an don the nasdaq is a scam and operating for so long, generating hundreds of millions of USD every year.
Also, I doubt that a known scam would achieve an A- rating from Consumer organisations such as the better business bureau.
How ever, not being a scam, does not mean I recommend it.

My LifeVantage Review - The Final Conclusion
MLM opportunities, despite being completely legal and above board are not designed for "joe public" like you and I.
It is very rare that people do rise from the very bottom to the very top. They are designed that - that you keep buying, keep spending and keep chasing that dream.
1% success rate of LifeVantage is enough reason for me not to recommend your participation and that you seek out better opportunities.
