Who Is Convertkit For?

Without a single doubt Convertkit has magnificently defined their target audience and market by creating an autoresponder that was designed with content creators in mind. 

If you are a Blogger, YouTuber, Podcaster, Online Coach or Trainer, Niche Site Marketer, Affiliate Marketer Or Content Marketing Professional you will get a lot of benefit and mileage out of Convertkit. 

This is particularly so when it comes to growing, maintaining and managing your subscriber list, which allows you more time to focus on other areas of growing your online business. 

Convertkit Pricing

A lot of attention is given in the blogging world to the Convertkit Pricing model, which does cost more than other similar products such as Aweber, Drip, Mailchip, GetResponse, Mailerlite,  and other similar products on the market. 

But,

Quality does come at a price and it is only a MSG laden latte or two more expensive than others. The cheapest option breaks in at $29 for 1,000 which is not that expensive at all.

It is in this case very much on par with the antiquated Aweber, which is $19, but only for 500 subscribers, there after rises to $29 and that is without the advanced features of Convertkit. 

Convertkit Features

On the face of it convertkit has some pretty advanced features and ones that marketers and bloggers love!

• Capture Page Editor 
• Super Easy Segmenation Of Subscribers
• Automatic Resending Of Unopened Broadcasts
• Double Optin Feature

On the face of it Convertkit appears that they have some super cool and fab unique features, although quite brilliant and designed for ease of use some of them are not unique to Convertkit. 

For example, having used Aweber for years, I can confirm they have an ability to design capture forms, although basic and plain.

Other Autoresponder service providers also have this, none as of yet, are  to produce particularly brilliant capture page editors to rival the specific software on the market such as Thrive Leads, that are designed for this particular purpose. 

Thus, Convertkit is not going to be an all-in-one kind of tool for you, you will still need your specialist lead page generator or what ever software you are using to build your capture pages. I personally use Thrive Leads. , as I believe it is far superior to others. 

Where Convertkit excel's and stands out is the ease of segmentation of your email list, which, again is NOT unique to this company, but they do have you, the end user in mind in regards to this aspect and are far more user friendly and super child easy to set up!. 

Now to the autoresending of unopened emails!

Who, which blogger would not fall in love with the idea of this! Emailing, automagically all of those that don't open a particular email. 

This task is something that is done in a single click of a button, where as with providers of other autoresponder services you need to do this mechanically and can take up your valuable time. 

Where this can actually improve is with the use of a bit of artificial intelligence and monitoring of open times of the emails that you send and accurately predict open times and send your emails at that time. 

However,

I have yet to see an autoresponder on the market to offer this feature.  Perhaps, Mr Nathan Barry can get his finger out here and be the first to do so!.

Convertkit Review - The Pros 

• What I Liked About Convertkit Autoresponder

Nothing is perfect, always everything can be improved. Always!. There are a lot of things that I love about Convertkit autoresponder and many things that this marketing software performs exceptionally well. 

Predominantly speaking this is its absolute facility of use, this autoresponder is so easy to use and its convenience of use. 

Did I mention the single click to resend to unopens? well, as good as Aweber is this takes 9 clicks and although easy, it is a bit clunky and will take a few minutes of your time!. 

Besides, have you ever tried to set up segmentation in Aweber?.

Let's put it this way, it took me and a friend days to figure it out! and although I didn't time it I had my segmentation, and far more advanced set up in about half an hour, 40mins maximum while using Convertkit. 

The smooth design is just so simple and super easy to work with. I am no tech geek or IT savvy kind of person yet I was, without any difficulty able to just jump right in and get using it and set up my first follow up email sequence and the opt in forms without the need of going through their tutorials. 

I very much suspect that you will be the same too!. 

• User Friendly!: With convertkit you will be wasting your valuable time scratching your head and trying to work out how the darn thing works! 

• Brilliantly Designed!: This tool is easy on the eyes, not distracting and simply just lets you get on with what you need to do - write those emails that bring home the bacon!. 

• Free Migration To Convertkit!: For those that have 5000+ email subscribers on your current autoresponder service provider Convertkit will handle the full migration for you. That is a full service, including your follow up email sequence and your capture forms and landing pages. Everything!

• Split Testing: The ability to split test your headlines is something that helps you to get more opens of those emails that you you send out, which equates to more moolah for you!. Although now common place, Convertkit were the very first in the email marketing industry to offer this. 

Convertkit has a lovely free trial! Which is always a good thing! 

Because You Know Spending And Extra $10 Bucks To Make Many Times That Amount Is An Investment!. The Question is: Are You Willing To Try Out A Better Autoresponder To Improve Your Open Rate And Increase Conversions?!?

The Cons - What I Didn't Like About The Convertkit Autoresponder

While there are a lot of plus points to this SaaSy product there were a couple of thing that I did not like which were:

• Sequence Design Layout: This is in a awkward hard to follow visually (for me) format. This could have had some more though design wise. It's not a biggie, I admit but could have been better. 

• Dealing With Cold Subs Could Be Better: I am someone that like to keep my list alive, warm and active. I found it a bit difficult to remove easily unopeners that have not opened an email for the past 90 days. 

In defence of Convertkit the do have an automatic tag that tags unopeners that have not opened any of your emails for 90 days. It is however, annoying to have to delete them all manually - A single click should be enough! 

• Poor Customisation Options Of Capture Forms: The ability to properly customise the forms in Convertkit is limited to say the least.

 This is actually not a big deal at all for myself and I suspect for yourself either as any marketer worth their salt will be using and integrating with a more professional and specific conversion focused builder such as lead pages or thrive leads. 

• A Lack of Templates: This is a point that I almost overlooked as I don't send out newsletter as such more as you are emails. However is you do send out newsletters and need the use of a template you will Convertkit rather limited in this aspect.

You can customise and make your own I do believe but this would require the time consuming CSS and HTML Programming when you should be writing those emails.

 Attention! Convertkit Subscribers!

Your subscribers with Convertkit are not based or sent to a specific list in the way in which regular autoresponders do. 

your subscribers are tag based defined by the very tag or tags that you set.

This is not a problem at all, in fact, I consider it as a good thing, however is you, like myself you are an owner of multiple niche sites across different industries you will need to set up an automatic tag for those signing up from your different sites for both ease of management on your behalf and to make sure that "Albert" from your sports blog doesn't get any of the mailings from your mommy blog!.

Of ease of use I have simple tags that are the very names of my sites. This way I KNOW where that particular subscriber comes from and where he/she belongs and what kind of follow up they should receive. 

You can also group your subscribers together using segments. Use which ever is most convenient for you. I tend to tag them and later segment and still keep them with the tag that identifies which site they came from.

Despite the few minor drawbacks, I do fully believe that by using Convertkit as your autoresponder of choice you will get more opens and a more active responsive list of subscribers and that means more of that beautiful green stuff for you!.
