AWOL Academy Review – Is Keala Kanae A Scammer?

AWOL Academy is an education platform and mentorship centred around internet and affiliate marketing. 

The Acronym AWOL as mentioned previously stands for "Another Way Of Life". The company is the brain child of Kameron George and Keala Kanae and was formed back in 2015. 

AWOL Academy was born out of Project AWOL which formed part of the well known high ticket MLM Network marketing company the Empower Network and took off from there. 

Most certainly Kameron George was involved with Empower Network, it is said that Keala Kanae during the period of 2012 to 2015 was also. This I cannot prove!. I do highly suspect that he was. 

Either way they parted ways due a disagreement in the summer of 2013 due to compliance issues and AWOL Academy became it's own program centred around affiliate marketing training and given their prices, they too can be considered as high ticket.

As a business AWOL Academy is based in the United States and registered in Las Vegas in the State of Nevada.

The very same business offers other programs, Global Affiliate Zone, and Elite Push, similarly these are high ticket programs and have almost identical sales strategy. 

AWOL Academy has a B rating on BBB the Better Business Bureau and an average of 69 customers has rated them as just over 4 stars. The company has received 23 complaints in the past 2 years. That's about 2 per month.  

In short he is an online entrepreneur and has a career background in digital marketing and social media marketing for a variety of companies before forming his own business. 

Some would consider him as a Business rock star hence is appearance with Mark Lack on Business Rock Stars and the pretty tremendous interview below. 

Before you are hit with the very first AWOL Academy product you get a free PDF and, I'll quite open and honest here a 2-hour masterclass by Keala Kanea, as and experienced marketer myself I can confirm that it does have some information and content that justifies the title of "master class".

Sure the 2hr video also serves as a sales pitch for AWOL Academy, but the content most people will take something away from it.

In the video he is pretty honest himself that this course is not for everyone due to cost and the amount of work required to succeed. 

This one part I can absolutely tell you to be completely true - regardless of any program you take part in, in absolutely any industry online or offline. Success takes time and it takes effort. 

This is something about today's "instasuccess" world I don't like - its bullsh*t!. Nothing falls from the sky and the success you see of very successful people are the result of the hardwork that took them years of hard work to get there

Internet Income Explained $49

This is the very first product and explains the fundamental knowledge of how the online sales process works in the digital world. 

There are 4 videos that talk about the AWOL business and marketing mindset and how to create an asset in the digital world and the best ways to scale your business for maximum growth. 

Pro Academy $99

The Pro Academy is a course consisting of 5 modules which takes you through the steps of setting up your hosting, your own website and a sales funnel. 

The training in this part is at best limited. Then there is the questionnaire for you to complete. The Questionnaire relates to your goals and objectives and your financial situation. Then it is time for your hour long coaching call with your AWOL coach. 

This part I was not particularly fond of as instead of genuinely being there for you I personally felt that they were there more as a "false friend" and to upsell the next product in the AWOL product line and probably obtain a commission.  

In this course you do actually need to buy some tools out with your hosting namely: 

• Autoresponder: Which they recommend Getresponse ($15/month)
• Landing Page Builder: Recommended Leadpages ($48-$79/month)
• Click Tracking: Recommended ClickMagic ($12-$17/month)

These are not tools that you will need just because of AWOL or what they teach, every marketer uses these and yes, they are very much essential and required at some point in your journey. 

Personally, I think that AWOL Academy would have been better organised with an all inclusive price, including the price of tools needed giving a more accurate total cost. 

 Inbox Academy $447

In this course you are taught here the AWOL Academy Email Marketing techniques and strategies to get higher open rates and more clicks in your emails and thus an increased earnings potential from your email marketing efforts. 

I won't deny it - Email marketing is something that you need to learn, something that does and will earn you a lot of income. Also, having a good responsive email list is what I call owned traffic, traffic in your pocket which you can direct anywhere - like your own site or an offer. 

When/it you get hit by algorithm updates (like I have been for one or two of my sites) your email list will be your saving grace!. 

Conversion Academy $1,797

There is no denying the very best way of making more money online is by getting the maximum out of your existing traffic and increasing your EPM - Earnings per 1,000 visitors. 

This is what the conversion academy is all about. Improving your sales technique and turning more visitors into buyers. What is taught here is how to create better copy, story telling and live presentations to get a higher conversion rate. 

Traffic Academy $2,997

Traffic is the life blood of any and every business online. Thankfully, traffic is everywhere...EVERYWHERE!. 

This part of the training is solely focused on paid traffic. While I am a huge on organic traffic and free methods I do recognise that you just can't run or operate a business on free traffic alone. 

Its a very risky strategy that mirrors more a hobby than a real business. Paid traffic alongside a good email list aids you when algorithm changes on both social media and search engines go against you. 

Also, keep it in mind that paid traffic is something that helps to accelerate your success, helps you to get to your income goals quicker. Getting good training here is important - other wise you are just spending money and not profiting from it. 

You are taught how to get traffic from YouTube, Facebook, Bing, and Instagram as paid sources. 

I was VERY surprised google Adwords and the Google Display Network was not mentioned. These are two great paid traffic sources. 

Masters Academy $5,497

This masters academy is the AWOL Academy's penultimate top level upsell that is not only much more expensive than the others but also covers a lot more advanced techniques from money management to mindset and productivity techniques to help you maximise all areas of your new online business.

Personally, I'd have liked to see the mindset training to be at the very beginning, the very first course that they sell. Simply because your mindset is what will determine your success in any endeavour not just digital marketing.  

Sure, I am BIG believer in the law of attraction - and for darn good reason. It is what helped me to walk again after a very horrific road accident. 

AWOL Elite $9,997

This program, AWOL Elite is the highest priced upsell from AWOL Academy and it is where you have the persmission and ability to work with expert digital marketers from Keala Kanea And Kameron George's team directly on a weekly basis. 

They will hold you accountable every step of the way. 

This is why, at this point they actually do guarantee that you can make $10,000 per within 3 months.  

If you have been paying attention to their product range you would have noticed that all of these individual courses could have been made into one fully comprehensive course which would have been better for the consumer, i.e you and I.

If they did, you would not need to keep buying the next course...and then the next one to improve your knowledge and your business by means of their upsells

Most importantly the products are solid! really top notch top quality information, having done a complete Keala Kanea Review, including his full background and career history in the preparation of this article he is clearly knows internet marketing inside out. 

And he has created what really is a rock star level product - despite the high price range.

Common complaints I found were centred around the pricing of the training, as I mentioned the products are expensive.

It is nowhere as expensive as AWOL Academy!. 

Some people did complain that the focus in on paid advertising. As I mentioned earlier in this review, paid traffic is important for turning a money making hobby into a business.

Sure, they could and should have training on free traffic as all businesses do want to maximise their profit margins and bottom line, right?.

I actually thought the exclusion of social media and SEO to be a bit odd to say the least.  

It has also been said that the company is a bit pushy in regards to encouraging current clients and members to upgrade and buy more expensive upsells.

From there you will get access to a the members welcome video and the upgrades and additional training if you so wish. 

Are There Alternatives To AWOL Academy?

Of course there are, and ones with no pushy upsells and come with real quality training and a with a focus on free traffic. 

The particular training that I recommend is Wealthy Affiliate, where I learned.

Is AWOL Academy A Scam? Is Keala Kanea A Scam?

No, and No. Both questions are a resounding no.  Neither AWOL Academy is a scam and Keala Kaneu is not a scammer. It is a legitimate business with a pretty solid but expensive product. 

Is AWOL Academy Legit?

Absolutely. 100% Legitimate business and Internet Marketing training product of high, quite possible the highest quality. 

AWOL academy is a legitimate internet marketing training product and program. I would suggest that you try under the following circumstances. 

• You can afford it!
• You are already adept at SEO and/Social Media Traffic Generation

The reason for the first is obvious! The second, I do feel that building a business without and real content online and on the website is very light.

You certainly want to have much more that just a landing page/sales funnel on your site. People want information and seek it out, we live in the information age after all. Solid content will draw in free traffic.
